About the Therapist

My name is Brian Sheppard. I am a Black Male Therapist originally from Trinidad and Tobago. I have children of my own and understand the challenges of balancing a full-time career with family life in London.

My journey into psychotherapy began through many years of working alongside people experiencing some of the most difficult periods of their lives.

My work in mental health nursing, community services and higher education has given me a deep appreciation of how complex our emotional lives can be.

Psychotherapy became a natural extension of this journey. My person-centred practice is grounded in the belief that people need to feel genuinely seen, heard and understood.

I don't see therapy as someone telling you how to live your life. I see it as creating a relationship where you can safely explore your experiences, understand yourself more deeply and consider what you want for your future.

Online Therapist Professional Registration

I am a Person-Centered Clinical Psychotherapist. Alongside my psychotherapy training, I work as a Senior Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing.

Prior to my academic role, I gained 11 years of clinical experience working with clients presenting with complex needs, including substance use, mental health difficulties, and social challenges. This has provided me with strong skills in assessment, care planning, and therapeutic engagement with individuals facing multiple vulnerabilities.

I am also a qualified Specialist Practitioner in Community Mental Health and Public Health Nursing, equipping me with advanced skills in holistic care, health promotion, and risk management. My professional journey reflects a consistent commitment to person-centred care, supporting individuals to achieve positive outcomes, and bridging theory with practice in both academic and therapeutic contexts.
