Affordable Therapy in London — One Fee, Stated Up Front

I'd rather you knew what therapy costs before we speak than found out afterwards. So here it is, in full: one session fee, a small number of reduced-fee places, a straightforward cancellation rule, and a free introductory call before you commit to anything.

  • £80 a session
  • 50 minutes on Zoom
  • UKCP registered
  • Free introductory call

The fee

What a session costs

Sessions are £80 and last 50 minutes. That's the whole price: there's no registration fee, no assessment fee and no block booking you have to commit to. You pay for the sessions you have, and you can stop whenever you choose.

I've set the fee deliberately. It's below what many London practices charge for a fully qualified, registered psychotherapist, and it's the same for everyone, whether you're in London, Leeds or Lerwick.

A small number of reduced-fee places are available. Ask me on the introductory call.

Concessions

Reduced-fee places

I keep a small number of reduced-fee places for people who couldn't otherwise afford therapy: students, people on a low income, and people whose circumstances have changed suddenly, which is often the very thing that's brought them to me.

There's no form to fill in and nothing to prove. Tell me on the introductory call that the full fee is a stretch and we'll talk about it honestly. If a place is open, it's yours; if they're all taken, I'll tell you when one is likely to open up and, if you'd like, point you towards low-cost services in the meantime.

Before you commit

Is the introductory call really free?

Yes. It's a short call, at no cost and with no obligation, where you tell me a little about what's going on and I tell you how I work. It isn't a session in miniature and it isn't a sales pitch. It's the two of us finding out whether this feels like a fit, and if it doesn't, I'll say so and suggest where else you might look. Nothing on this site says “free” except this call, and that's on purpose.

Cancellations

What if I need to cancel?

Give me 24 hours' notice and there's nothing to pay; we simply rearrange. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, or don't turn up, the full session fee is charged, because that time was held for you and can't be offered to anyone else. If something genuinely unforeseeable happens, tell me as soon as you can and we'll be sensible about it.

If I ever have to cancel, you'll hear from me as early as possible and there's never a charge.

Payment

How do I pay?

By bank transfer after each session; I'll send the details when we book. You'll get a receipt by email, which is useful if you're claiming sessions back through a workplace scheme or an insurer. I don't take payment for the introductory call, and I don't ask for anything in advance for a first session.

Plain answers

What else should I know about the money side?

Anything not covered here, ask me on the free introductory call.

No. Some people come for a few weeks, some for much longer. We'll review how it's going as we go, and you decide.

No, and I don't offer one. One fee, paid as you go, means you're never paying for sessions you've decided you don't want.

I'm not currently registered with the health insurers, so sessions are self-funded. I'm happy to give you receipts if your policy lets you claim.

Yes. I hold professional indemnity insurance, as every registered psychotherapist should.

To a sole practitioner. There's no platform, agency or practice taking a cut, which is part of why the fee is what it is.
